Mount Wolseley Hotel Spa & Golf Resort

I booked this hotel through SecretEscapes website for my husband and myself as a spa break. We were pleased with the hotel facilities, food and services. Staff members were very friendly and helpful. There is a castle ruins and nature park with shops and a restaurant (Rathwood) nearby. Worth visiting.

We booked a special deal with the hotel that included bed, breakfast, evening meal, spa treatment and afternoon tea. Rooms were really excellent. Comfortable, great bathroom with seperate bath and monsoon shower. Spa treatment was good. We opted for mud treatments and facial and head massage. Facials got the thumbs up but our mud experience was marred by roasting hot shower drops raining down on us. Mistake in the temperature was reported and fixed. The dinner was definately the highlight of the trip. Food was delicious especially the lamb shank, beef short rib and smokey chicken salad. Cheese board was really good. Quality of the cheeses excellent and plenty to share around. Good selection of wines too. Breakfast was very good especially the made to order poached eggs. The low point was definitely the afternoon tea, which was not worth the 39 euro they were charging. Somewhat stale sandwiches and certainly not enough savoury options. The middle tier was dreadful. Stale scones were inedible and hard as rock. Large slabs of maderia style cake times 4 was a lazy plate filler. It's not hard to do a good afternoon tea so I was disappointed with that one. However it may just have been a bad day for the tea room and it was certainly at odds with the overall food offering. We tried to go for a walk but alas the grounds are completely off limits. Other golf hotels have lovely walkways through or around the golf course so we expected the same. Hotel are definitely missing a trick here. But still enjoyed our trip and would recommend it to others.

Another fantastic stay in Mount Wolseley. Great to see a hotel consistently improve & upgrade. Friendly professional staff. Good food & drink in Frederick's Restaurant. Excellent breakfast. A special mention to Kathy and her front of house team. Amy is a very pleasant waitress. See you soon.

Lovely hotel, went here last weekend with our 5 and 2 year old. Stayed in an executive room which is slightly bigger than family room. Was perfect size for all of us and was very clean and modern. The leisure centre is very good, clean and they have a small paddle pool for the younger kids. Dinner was very good, really nice food (hats off to the chefs) and Eoin who looked after us was very attentive and was very nice to deal with. Plenty of staff on for dinner too which was good to see. Breakfast was nice, buffet style, but I think they should look at putting on a limited menu for hot food such as pancakes (as our 5 year old normally gets them at hotels we stay at) and eggs benedict. Also the sausages are not great and I would suggest changing to better quality. They also have a games room for the kid which was good. The staff at reception were very nice too. We will definitely come back again in a few months. Please tweak the breakfast!

I attended Leah’s Pilates class last Tuesday, it was my first ever Pilates class. I was super impressed with her coaching. I appreciated how Leah emphasised proper form and breathing techniques, ensuring that we were engaging the right muscles throughout each exercise. The atmosphere was welcoming, making it easy for beginners and experienced participants alike to feel . She explained the exercises superbly and I will definitely be returning again. Thanks Leah!!
